Abduction Of Ese Oruru: Yunusa Arraigned In Court

YENAGOA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Yunusa Dahiru, aka Yellow, who abducted 14-year-old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He was arraigned on five counts of abduction, kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge and sexual exploitation.

Yunusa was arraigned before Hon. Justice H.A. Nganjiwa, of the federal house sitting in Yenagoa this morning in charge No. FHC/YNG/17c/2016, in a case between the Inspector General of Police, IGP, versus Yunusa Dahiru ‘M’.

The case was adjourned to March 14 for hearing on the bail application by his counsel, Kayode Olaoshaebikan.

Our correspondent gathered that Yunusa has been remanded in Okaka prison in Yenagoa.

Ese was abducted by Yunusa, a regular customer at her mother’s food stall, in August 2015, from Bayelsa and taken to Kano, where her parents had said their teenage daughter, having been converted to Islam, had been forced into child marriage, without their consent.
