Ogunwusi Crowned 51st Ooni Of Ife

ILE-IFE, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has been crowned with the traditional Ade-Are as the 51st traditional ruler of the ancient town.

Oba Ogunwusi was said to have been presented with the crown in seclusion by its custodians at a place called Oke-Ora located between Ile-Ife and Osun along Ilesa Road.

The royal father, who appeared in public for the first time after spending 21 days in seclusion, was accompanied by indigenes of the town and members of Isoro Community.

Oba Ogunwusi visited many strategic places in the town including his family house and Obalufe compound to perform some rites as tradition demands.

Several gun shots to herald his appearance were also fired in the air in all the places he visited.

As at the time of filing this report, several mats on which the monarch would walk bare footed into the palace through a traditional gate behind the palace have been laid on the road from Enuwa to the palace gate

It was gathered that the main gate to the palace which had been closed since the passage of the immediate past Ooni, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, would after the new monarch had entered through the passage behind the palace be opened.

Meanwhile activities lined up for his inauguration would commence on Monday next week and end on December the 7, with the presentation of staff of office by the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola.
