Talk Of Marginalisation By Buhari Is Premature — Abaribe

LAGOS, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Former Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, on Wednesday said it is premature to say that President Muhammadu is marginalizing the Igbo in the list of appointments he has made so far.

Recently, there have been widespread criticisms from some Nigerians over what they termed the seeming lop-sidedness in the recent appointments made by the president which a lot of Nigerians believed favoured the Northern part of the country where he hails from.

Prominent leaders from the South East have condemned the recent appointments made by the president which they believed is aimed at punishing them for giving the president the least votes in the March 28 presidential election while rewarding the Northern region where he received the highest votes.

But speaking in a telephone chat with Daily Independent, Abaribe, who currently represents Abia South Senatorial District under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the Buhari said Nigerians should be patient with the new administration especially since the appointments are not yet over.

According to him “The appointments are not over yet especially when the administration is still very new.  I believe we must give them a few months to get things right. Any talk of marginalization is premature in my view” he said.
