TAN, Ifeanyi Ubah Denies Endorsing Ambode For Lagos State Gubernatorial Poll

LAGOS, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Chairman of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) Dr. Ifaenyi Ubah, on Sunday denied that the organisation endorsed the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Akinwumi Ambode, for next Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

He also denied insinuation that the group met the Oba of Lagos, where they endorsed Ambode’s candidacy.

Ubah, who spoke at press conference in Lagos, said TAN is unwavering in its support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He alleged threat to his life, and those of his family members and businesses in Lagos, as a result of his support and his investment to the cause of the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje.

According to him, “I have no regret for supporting President Goodluck Jonathan and Agbaje. My position and that of TAN’s support for the PDP has also not changed. Some persons have called; others have sent text messages to me saying my life and businesses is no longer safe. Some have quarried why am fighting the APC in Lagos.

“They threaten me for leading the Igbos to work against the APC. I have reported the threat to my life and businesses to the Nigerian security and I have also alerted the international community”.

He reaffirmed that he is still a PDP member and will remain so, stressing that he is a detrablised.

It was under the PDP platform that for the first time in the history of Lagos, non-indigenes won election into the Federal House of Representatives, a feat, he said should be applauded and not condemned.

“The PDP platform has given non-indigenes the opportunity to be at the National Assembly, the first in 16 years under the current democracy. We have to thank the party; Igbos who have contributed to building Lagos now have a voice in Lagos and this is laudable. We can only be grateful to the PDP for this and it will be wrong for anyone to say we are shifting to another party. There is nobody in TAN who has the capacity to endorse another candidate,” he added
