ABUJA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. March 3, 2015 (Unic Staff) – In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, March 2, 2015, the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation [APCPCO] through Director of Media and Publicity Garba Shehu said the People’s Democratic Party [PDP] should produce evidence that Professor Yemi Osinbajo took an oath which compels him [Osinbajo] to resign from office in the event that General Muhammadu Buhari is declared winner in 2015 presidential election.
Excerpts from APCPCOs Director of Media and Publicity reads:
“For the PDP through Fani-Kayode to state publicly that an erudite professor of Law, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria [SAN] and a reputable pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God [RCCG] swore an oath to vacate his seat as the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the national leader of the APC, Senator Tinubu, should the party win the forthcoming election, is an attack on the hard-won integrity and the reputations of these great Nigerians and APC stalwarts… We view this as both slanderous and libelous and therefore will not leave the matter to chance. To this effect, we, hereby, give Femi Fani-Kayode and the PDP 72 hours to produce evidence or in the alternative issue public apology to Pastor Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Bola Tinubu and our party, the APC or be prepared to be charged to the court of law”.
In a related development, Andy Ugbovoro (National Coordinator) and Nelson Izomor (Secretary) of Movement or Democratic Principle, said: “one lie we will not fold our hands and allow to continue to make the rounds, is the one fabricated by a group of individuals who sees the APC’s vice presidential choice of Prof. Yemi Osibanjo as a representative of the Yoruba and of Christians in Nigeria. Osibanjo does not represent the interest of the Yoruba or Christians; rather he represents the interest of his master Bola Ahmed Tinubu to whom the Prof. is a mere stooge. There are certain calculations/permutations that the Asiwaju has made in forcing both candidates on the party in a staged managed primaries meant to give the party unmerited credit.”
