Unic Press UK: The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran has attacked the United States military and coalition forces in Iraq, the United States Department of Defense said in a press release Tuesday.
“At approximately 5:30 p.m. (EST) on January 7, Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles against U.S. military and coalition forces in Iraq. It is clear that these missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting U.S. military and coalition personnel at Al-Assad and Irbil.”
These Iranian military strikes on U.S. bases in Iraq are Tehran’s retaliatory measures following the U.S. killing Friday of a top Iranian military commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who, until his death, led an IRGC’s elite force known as the Quds Force, the Press TV reports.
As the situation in the Middle East escalates after the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian military has warned that any country that serves as a U.S. base to attack Iran would be targeted by Iranian forces.
