Unic Press UK: An emir [a government-appointed king] for each of the four newly created emirates – Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi – of Kano State would be installed today, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Under the newly created Rano Emirate are 10 local government areas – Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, Takai, Sumaila, Kura, Doguwa, Tudunwada, Kiru and Bebeji.
The Gaya Emirate would take charge of 9 local government councils consisting of Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu, Wudil, Garko, Warawa, Dawakinkudu, Gabasawa and Gezawa.
8 local government areas – Karaye, Rogo, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimingado, Shanonon, Madobi and Garunmalam – would be under the Karaye Emirate.
The Bichi Emirate would oversee 9 local government areas. They are Bichi, Bagwai, Tsanyawa, Shanono, Kunchi, Dambatta, Makoda, Dawakintofa and Tofa.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero would be the emir of Bichi. Alhaji Tafida Abubakar 11 would would be installed the emir of Karaye. Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya is for Gaya. Dr Ibrahim Abubakar 11 would become the emir of Rano.
The installation ceremony would hold today at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
New emirates emerged following a resolution of the Kano State House of Assembly to review/amend the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Law of the state; and the state governor Abdullahi Ganduje decision to accept the decision of the lawmakers’.
For easier local administration as Kano state moves in a new direction to deliver community based growth, we have decided to create 4 new Emirates for our great state.
