WHO: Regular Physical Inactivity Increases People’s Risk Of Poor Health

Unic Press UK: A study by four World Health Organization (WHO) experts have concluded that regular physical inactivity could lead to poor health and cause several types of cancer and diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mental health conditions, and so on.

The outcome of the study, which appeared in The Lancet Global Health, illustrates that more than one in four adults (28% or 1.4 billion people) are physically inactive.

Given the findings, men are more active than women at the global level [32% men vs 23% women]; and the people in high income countries are more inactive (37%) in comparison with middle income (26%) and low income countries (16%).

There’s need to provide a conducive environments that support physical activity for people of all ages and abilities to reduce the risk of poor health, the experts said.
