Unic Press UK: Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been sworn in as Turkey President in a ceremony that included taking the presidential oath of office in the capital city Ankara.
Erdogan was re-elected Turkey president on 24 June with 52.5 percent of the votes, heralding a new presidential system of government that will function without a prime ministerial position.
Speaking on Monday during the inauguration/swearing in ceremony, Erdogan said:
“With a presidential system of government, we are moving to a new system of government which is far beyond our almost 150-year-quest for democracy and what we have experienced through the history of our 95-year-old republic. We will strengthen Turkey in all areas, including the defense industry and border security,” reports the Anadolu Agency.
