Egyptian Streets: Egyptian authorities executed 15 people on Tuesday after they had been convicted of terrorism-related charges, privately-owned Youm7 reported citing security sources.
The 15 defendants were convicted of involvement in cases of violence and terror attacks against Armed Forces personnel in August 2013 in North Sinai, and belonging to terrorist organizations.
Lawyer of the defendants Khaled al-Masry told Youm7 that the appeal on the preliminary death sentence that was released in 2015 was rejected by the High Military Cassation Court in November of this year.
Several local and international rights groups have condemned the increasing death sentences in Egypt. Critics claimed that the defendants undergo unfair trials and give testimonies under pressure.
Dozens of defendants have been executed since 2013 on terrorism-related charges, particularly, members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group.
