Unic Press UK: The Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari has issued an order that all the capital cities of each of the thirty-six states’ in the country should be connected by rail in the ongoing railway projects.
The minister of transportation Chibuike Amaechi on Thursday revealed Buhari order during a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Shehu Sani.
The meeting with the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts was with regard to the Nigerian government request to the lawmakers for approval to borrow 5.5 billion USD (₦1.95 trillion), the State’s news organization News Agency of Nigeria reports.
There are reports that the Committee, during its session on Thursday, questioned the rationale behind a new request for external borrowing, especially considering the billions of monies that the government claims to have recovered from many who had stolen public funds. The Daily Post, Nigeria, reported Friday that the Committee Chairman, Shehu Sani, expressed fears that the future of Nigerians might be put in bondage.
