ABUJA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. On Tuesday, 28 July 2015, the Senate publicly acknowledged receipt of a letter from the Executive arm of government requesting confirmation for service chiefs who were recently appointed by President Buhari.
The Senate President Bukola Saraki who read the contents of the letter at the Senate plenary, said: The request for a confirmation was in accordance with the provisions of Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, 2004.
The service chiefs who have been presented for confirmation include: Chief of Defence Staff Major General Abayomi Olonishakin; Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas; Chief of Defence Intelligence Air Vice-Marshal Monday; Chief of Army Staff Major General Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
