Unic Press UK: Atiku Abubakar, 71-year-old former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a former Nigerian Customs Service apparatchik, is the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having been declared the winner of the PDP Presidential Primary Election, which was held from October 6 to October 7 at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt – the capital city of Rivers state of Nigeria.

In a tweet, Atiku said: “@OfficialPDPNig, thank you for choosing me. This is a victory for all of us. The task to get Nigeria working again starts now. #NigeriaWillWork #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain”
Atiku Abubakar, who is from Adamawa state in the North East region of Nigeria, garnered a massive 1,532 or 48.5% of the total valid votes. Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal is in second position, receiving 693 votes. In the third position, is the Senate President Bukola Saraki with 317 votes.
