ABUJA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the outcome of the election of the President of Senate Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara.
Through a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, the President said the election of Bukola Saraki as Senate president cum the election of Yakubu Dagora as House of Representative Speaker is constitutional, though he felt that the direction stipulated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have been more apposite.
The statement reads: “President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the Senate and House of Representatives and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elect… “the stability of our constitutional order and overall interest of the common man were uppermost on the president’s mind.”
