
Unic Press UK: The National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has been released from Kuje prison after ‘perfecting’ the terms and conditions for his bail, release from custody.
Metuh is being prosecuted over money laundering in the sum of N400 million, which he allegedly received through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in November 2014. In this matter, which is before Judge Obong Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, he was granted bail on 19 January 2016 in the sum of N400 million and two sureties who must have landed property in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
There is another charge against Metuh over the destruction of a written statement, which partly reads: “Olisa Metuh on the 5th day of January 2016 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory destroyed a document, to wit: a statement made under caution to investigators / operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the 5th of January 2016, with the intention of preventing the same from being produced or used as evidence in a court of law.” In this case, Metuh was granted bail in the sum of N300 million with two sureties in like sum by Justice Ishaq Bello of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
