ABUJA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. (Unic Press UK) — The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shut down two refineries, Port Harcourt refinery and Kaduna refinery.
The NNPC said: “The operational shutdown of Port Harcourt & Kaduna Refineries occurred due to crude supply challenges arising from recent pipeline attacks… The plants were simultaneously shut on Sunday after the Bonny-Okrika & Escravos Warri crude supply lines to the Refineries suffered breaches”.
The Nigerian government has declared that recent attacks / destruction of oil and gas installations has created losses estimated at $2.4 million daily.
The attacks started last week after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued an arrest warrant against former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo (also know as Tompolo).
Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) has vehemently denied responsibility for recent attack on oil and gas installations.
