Coronavirus Outbreak: UK National Advised To Leave China & Avoid Travelling To Hubei

Unic Press UK: Given the overwhelming challenges posed by a fast spreading novel coronavirus, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have issued a statement, advising UK nationals to leave China; and warning against all travel to Hubei, a province in central China and the epicenter of the outbreak of nCoV2019.

A statement Tuesday by the FCO reads: “The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to Hubei Province due to the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak. The FCO advise against all but essential travel to the rest of mainland China (not including Hong Kong and Macao). The British Consulates-General in Wuhan and Chongqing are currently closed. If you’re in China and able to leave, you should do so.”

The FCO further warns that, in the coming weeks, it might become harder to leave China considering that the other commercial airlines could join the British Airways and Virgin Atlantic in suspending flights to and from mainland China.

The Chinese government continues its efforts at controlling this highly contagious disease, coronavirus, by imposing further restrictions on movement within the country – shuttering some provincial highways and intercity high speed rail, tightened control of entry and exit to villages and townships across the country, and restricting movement within some cities and municipalities.

Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology says work is in progress on novel coronavirus vaccine development.
