Unic Press UK: Former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Raymond Omatseye, has been convicted, and will serve five years’ in prison custody over a N1.5 billion contract scam.

Omatseye, who was convicted on Friday, the 20th May, was arraigned at a Federal High Court in Lagos presided by Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia over a 27-count charge of bid rigging, contract variation and awarding contract above his approval limit.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had argued that Omatseye contravened section 58 (4) (d) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.
