MAIDUGURI, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Troops of 7 Brigade, on Friday, dislodged members of Boko Haram from Gudumbali town, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno state. During the operation, many of the terrorists were killed and their their weapons and equipment were destroyed, according to a statement released by Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman.
This latest onslaught on the terrorists came on the heels of a heavy damage the Nigerian Air Force inflicted on the terrorists camps within the general area last Monday.
Usman, in the statement said 2 soldiers lost their lives, while 2 others were critically injured.
“The bodies of the two gallant soldiers have been evacuated, to the rear, while the other two wounded soldiers have also been evacuated and are receiving treatment at the military hospital,” he said.
Usman noted the unit also lost a Mowag Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) when the APC ran into a landmine between old Marte & Kerenoa junction.
Despite this sad event, troops are not deterred as they continued their advance and pursuing the terrorists two their hideouts in Sambisa forest, Usman explained.
