Still Waiting For The Real Buhari Nigerians Voted For (Conclusion)

BONN, Federal Republic of Germany. ‘Still Waiting For The Real Buhari Nigerians Voted For (Conclusion)’ By Temple Chima Ubochi.

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination (Earl Nightingale)Follow what you are genuinely passionate about and let that guide you to your destination (Diane Sawyer)

From the equality of rights springs identity of our highest interests; you cannot subvert your neighbor’s rights without striking a dangerous blow at your own (Carl Schurz)

Discipline must come through liberty…We do not consider an individual disciplined when he has been rendered as artificially silent as a mute and as immovable as a paralytic. He is an individual annihilated, not disciplined (Maria Montessori)

As usual, the north has seen the opportunity to reap where it didn’t sow. let’s analyze the northern 8-point request:

These northern leaders told Buhari not to make the kind of mistake Dr Jonathan made by not massively developing the Niger Delta. They said he (should) focused on the transformation of the entire country, believing that he (Dr Jonathan) will secure a second term in office to massively develop Niger Delta. They asked Buhari to treat the north, mostly north-west and north-east like every day is his last day in office, citing the long absence of a northerner at the helm of affairs.

So, the northern leaders finally acknowledged that President Jonathan really achieved a lot and did a lot for the northern region which wasn’t appreciated, and that he, President Jonathan, shortchanged his own region, just to please the north. They must have “called” President Jonathan a fool for not developing his area, hoping to get a chance to do that, if he wins a re-election, without “seeing everyday as his last in office”.

The northern leaders made eight demands from Buhari, including:

1.     Appointment of core northern Muslims into key positions in the country.

As if Nigeria belongs only to them, and as if Christians have no right in the country. That’s the reason there are speculations that President Muhammadu Buhari will keep the petroleum minister portfolio for himself in the new cabinet rather than trust anyone else with the ministry, because, “Nigeria’s oil sector was so dirty that nobody’s hands were clean enough to do the “surgical changes”, only Buhari’s hands are clean. Buhari must have learnt from Obasanjo, who also kept the petroleum minister portfolio for himself for 8 years he was the president, without giving account of the amount of oil sold within that period. Obasanjo answered to no one here, and the corruption he perpetrated as the President cum oil minister can only be imagined. That was why his houseboy then, Andy Uba, is today a multi-billionaire and a senator. Buhari tells us that he is not corrupt and lives a simple life, still Mrs. Aisha Buhari wore to her husband’s inauguration a watch costing a whopping $52,000. 00 or 345, 000 Pounds! Buhari is not corrupt, but, he has a house in London. Buhari is not corrupt, and, still, some of his children are schooling and living extravagantly in England. When Buhari was elected, we were deceived to believe that he has no house in Abuja; that he stays at El Rufai’s house whenever he is in Abuja. But now, it has been exposed that President Muhammadu Buhari owns the sprawling Asokoro lakeside mansion located at number 9, Udo Udoma Street, Asokoro, Abuja, Buhari told us that he borrowed the 27 million Naira he used in procuring the APC nomination form, that he has only a house in Kaduna and one in Daura and 150 cows, so where did he get the money to buy his wife such an expensive watch, a house in Abuja and London, and also send his children to London universities?

2.     Extra financial support for the 19 northern states.

So the southern states should be allowed to suffer because Buhari is not a president for all Nigerians or all parts of Nigeria?

3.     Amnesty for Boko Haram, so that it would be an avenue to empower northern youths.

Those who empowered Boko Haram are asking for amnesty for the killers, just like the Niger Delta militants. But, the Niger Delta militants didn’t cause much mayhem or havoc or didn’t perpetrate such atrocities as the Boko Haram blood suckers. Because of this demand, Buhari travelled to Niger and Chad to exploit a possibility of making the amnesty happen.

4.     To establish a world class petroleum university in Katsina State.

I wonder how naïve those northern leaders are for asking for a petroleum university in Katsina State, when it should be sited near the source of that raw material. Those bigots think that Nigeria belongs to them; as such they can have anything they want. That was why they made that sit uncomfortable for President Jonathan.

5.     To build another refinery in Kano State.

I have no problem with this request, as long as one is built in Lagos, Calabar Enugu, Makurdi etc. I will also accept this request, if the oil the north is scouting up in the north is finally discovered.

6.     To pay off Tinubu and Amaechi for sponsoring his campaign, so that his presidency can be truly a northern presidency.

This is what I have been harping upon all along. Others worked hard for this government to come into place for the north to reap the reward. I have said it times without number that President Jonathan is not the only loser of the last presidential election. People who will regret their role in getting Buhari elected are Tinubu and Amaechi. The coalition is falling apart as Tinubu and Amaechi don’t see eye to eye again. Buhari is avoiding Tinubu now, and has failed to keep all the promises he made to Tinubu during the campaign period. Immediately Buhari won the election, he started avoiding Tinubu, and if care is not taken, he will imprison Tinubu, if the latter pesters him. He knows Tinubu’s weak points, and might exploit them against him. Amaechi betrayed his brother, Goodluck Jonathan, for Buhari, but, he’s a loser and would soon be a persona non grata in his state, and still Buhari will not succor him adequately, thereby losing both ends. Also, the south-west will be the loser zone here, because, the north have used it and will dump it again. Very soon, the betrayers would be betrayed; the deceivers would be deceived and people would reap the bad seed they sow

7.     To place Ankio Briggs and Asari Dokubo on DSS watch list, seize their passports, because they can turn the Niger Delta region against his presidency.

This advice will be counterproductive, as Asari Dokubo saw this coming and must have taken his precautions. Buhari will make a mistake going after that militant, as long as he is not disturbing anybody. If Shekau, who committed all kinds of atrocities is still on the loose, why then go for Asari Dokubo who is only talking without killing anyone? Get Shekau first before going for Asari Dokubo.

8.     And lastly they asked him not to honour the gay agreement between his party (APC) and the western countries. Sources said Buhari agreed to try his best in the first seven demands, but he is not so sure of the last demand which is the gay agreement with western countries; because he is scared they would fight him, destabilize his government, and possibly edge him out like they did to Dr Jonathan.

Now, we know why there were international and national gang ups against Goodluck Jonathan to deny him a second term. So, The APC secretly entered into an agreement with the western countries that led to their withdrawal of support from Goodluck Jonathan. President Jonathan lost the western countries’ favor or support because of the anti-gay legislation he signed into law, after the western countries and Obama asked him not to sign it. That was his only crime. Since he signed the legislation into law, Obama withdrew his support, refused to pick Jonathan’s phone calls again, and stopped America and its allies from buying Nigeria’s oil since May 2014. The war against Boko Haram lingered under President Jonathan, because, Obama refused to sell weapons to Nigeria, and also asked American allies, such as Israel, not to sell any weapon to Nigeria, all because President Jonathan signed the anti-gay legislation into law. Obama and the western countries started rooting for Buhari, and that was the reason the west didn’t condemn the flawed election that ushered in Buhari. The last election was one of the worst in Nigeria, as children voted overtly, rigging and manipulation were rampant, and still the west looked the other way, because, they wanted Goodluck Jonathan out by all means. Obama’s administration is trying to be friendlier to Nigeria now that Buhari, their puppet, is the President. Obama refused to take serious action against Boko Haram after Goodluck Jonathan dared him by signing the anti-gay legislation into law. Now they have shoved Jonathan off and replaced him with Buhari, they, the west, are coming back to help, as there was reports that “The United States will send a team to Nigeria in the next few weeks to discuss with the new government ways to renew cooperation in the fight against the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, a senior US diplomat said on Thursday, June 04.Washington has quickly reached out to new President Muhammadu Buhari since his election victory in March and sent US Secretary of State John Kerry to his inauguration to underscore US interest in working with his government”. The report erroneously said that Obama fell out with President Jonathan because of corruption and human rights abuse. That was not the whole truth. These two issues contributed, but, are not the only ones. The anti-gay law was the last straw that broke the Carmel’s back. Afterall, there are corruption and human rights abuses everywhere including countries Obama’s administration is interacting with. America is one of the most corrupt and human rights abusing countries. America plays double or triple standards; Saudi Arabia has worse records than Nigeria, but, Obama deals with or cuddles it.

Now Buhari has won, they have invited him to the G-7 meeting for him to take orders. A week before he was inaugurated, Buhari sneaked out of Nigeria and surfaced at No. 10 Downing Street, without his APC and many of those close to him knowing about it. At No. 10 Downing Street, Buhari embarrassed himself and Nigeria, as the British PM, Cameron, kept him outside waiting for more than 30 minutes, and dismissed him ignobly. There, Buhari, who was in London for medical checkup, made a stop at No 10 Downing Street to take orders prior to the inauguration. Buhari breached all protocols over there. Now he was in Germany, at the G-7 meeting, for the proper taking of orders from those who made him president. The want a wish list from Nigeria, but just as Ben Aduba also noted, what Nigeria needs the most is noninterference in our economic and political decision making, not foreign aid in any form.

It’s nauseating that the west is creating so many problems everywhere. The west is creating dictators everywhere, because, it’s finding it more convenient to work with dictators, but, once any of the dictators starts asserting himself, the west will go for his elimination. The west has created problems and caused messes all over the world for its selfish interest. The west made Saddam Hussein, used him for so many years, and when he wanted to be his own man, the west planned and eliminated him without thinking of what will become of Iraq after Saddam Hussein was gone. Today, Iraq is bad shape and 100 times worse than during Saddam Hussein’s time, despite the atrocities he committed. Iraq might know no peace again, and that was a country Saddam Hussein was able to hold together is now on the brink. Saddam used the Iran-Iraqi war to unite an unwieldy Iraq, made up of belligerent or bellicose ethnic nationalities, and it worked well. American and its allies should ask themselves if Iraq was better under Saddam or now. Also, the west made Gaddafi, used him, and when “he outlived his usefulness”; the west turned against him and eliminated him. But that has put Libya into a mess, and a thriving country that prospered under Gaddafi is about to implode.

The west is about to create a dictator in Buhari, because, he agreed to repel the anti-gay law Goodluck Jonathan signed into law. The west will use and dump Buhari when it deems fit. That was why they invited him to G-7 meeting, they didn’t invite Goodluck Jonathan all the years he was president of Nigeria. Buhari attended the G-7 meeting a week after his inauguration, when he was supposed to stay at home to put together a government. The CIA predicted that Nigeria will break up in 2015, and everybody thought that the election may be the catalyst, but, not knowing that what CIA meant was that the process of that break up might start in 2015, and the actual break up will follow at a later date, if the problems are not well addressed. What the northern leaders are asking Buhari to do above, will be hastening the breakup of Nigeria, if Buhari agrees to that. Permit me to say that Goodluck Jonathan is still one of the luckiest people I know, in that his “goodluck” hasn’t forsaken him yet. His losing of the election might be a blessing in disguise for him, as he has freed himself from all the palaver of Nigeria; at least, if Nigeria implodes today, it will not be in his hands. Buhari and the north, asked for and got what they were looking for, and now, either they keep Nigeria “one” or make the mistakes that will set everybody “to his or her own tent” soon. Nigerians want Buhari to keep the promises he made to them during the electioneering, no excuses would do.
