ABUJA, Federal Republic of Nigeria. An Abuja High Court has been asked to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from forcing its chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu and other executive members from resigning their positions, until the expiration of their tenure.
Two members of the party, Tasiu Iliyasu Hussaini, Waziri Amadu, in suit number CV/1831/15, dated May 14, 2015, have asked the Court to determine whether the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party could be dissolved or forced to resign their positions, without following laid down procedures by the party’s constitution.
The plaintiffs, through their counsel, Iliya Dauda and Nafiu Yakubu, wanted the court to make an order restraining the party from directing Mu’azu and other NWC members from resigning their positions, without following the prescribed procedure in the party’s constitution.
Apart from PDP and Mua’zu, other defendants were Chief Uche Secondus, deputy national chairman; Professor Wale Oladipo, national secretary; Chiedopnwe Solomo Onwe, deputy national secretary; Chief Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary; Chief Kema Chikwe, women leader; Elder Bolaji Anani, financial secretary and Victor Kwom, legal adviser.
Others were Abubakar Mustapha, national organising secretary; Hussaini Maibasira, youth leader; Bala Buhari, treasurer and Adewale Adeyanju, national auditor.
No date has been fixed for the hearing of the case.
