China Urges United States To Revoke $2.37 Billion Arms Deal With Taiwan

Unic Press UK: China has urged the United States to revoke any plans to sale U.S. materiel to Taiwan.

In a statement Tuesday, a Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Ren Guoqiang, called on the U.S. to stop forthwith military contact with Taiwan and bring to an end the plans to sale arms to China’s neighbour.

In a response to the U.S.-Taiwan deal for the sale of United States’ harpoon missile systems worth $2.37 billion, Guoqiang said the deal violates both the “one-China principle” and several joint communiques between the U.S. and China.

The deal interferes in China’s internal affairs, endangers the stability/peace across the Taiwan Strait, and undermines both the sovereignty and security interests of China, Guoqiang added.
