Unic Press UK: 19 Iranian sailors were accidentally killed and many others seriously injured during a military exercise in the country’s territorial waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
The tragic accident occurred Sunday in Iran’s southern Jask port, in the Hormozgan province, as Iranian Navy vessels were conducting a military drill, the Navy’s Public Relations Department said in a statement on Monday, the Press TV reported.
Rescue teams responded quickly, evacuating all the people injured; and moving the damaged naval vessel to safety.
“Naval relief and rescue teams reached the location shortly after the incident, retrieving the injured and the martyrs from the vessel and transferring them to medical centers,” the Iranian Navy statement said.
