Unic Press UK: The Nigerian military has manufactured a low-cost ventilator to support the Federal Government in the fight against the COVID-19, reports the Voice of Nigeria.
Speaking during the unveiling of this new medical equipment, the Coordinator for Defense Media Operations, Major-General John Enenche, said the Armed Forces of Nigeria “has taken the lead among others, to provide a local content driven response to address the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Nigeria.”
The new ventilator, which has been presented to the The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for certification, has already undergone tests/assessment by specialists in the medical field.
The equipment might not meet the high demands of critical patients, but “It can also be used for invasive ventilation and non-invasive ventilation using an end tracheal tube and mask respectively”, Enenche said.
