Unic Press UK: On January 2020, the Sokoto state government would start implementing a ₦30,000 minimum monthly wage, says Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
Tambuwal, who spoke while receiving a report on the new minimum wage from the committee it had set up with regard to implementing the new minimum wage bill signed into law in April 2019 by President Buhari, said that a wider verification of workers’ in Sokoto would be carried out to eliminate ghost workers from the payroll.
It was in March 2019 that the Nigerian Senate, the upper legislative chamber, adopted a new National Minimum Wage after a reading of the National Minimum Wage Act CAP N61 LFN a third time, thereby approving a new National Minimum Wage of ₦30,000.00.
