Unic Press UK: Sadio Mane and Asisat Oshoala were crowned Tuesday as African Player of the Year and African Women’s Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2019, during the 28th edition of the CAF Awards that was held at the Albatros Citadel Sahl Hasheesh Resort in Hurghada, Egypt.

Sadio Mane of Senegal received 477 votes, ahead of Mohamd Salah of Egypt who polled 325 votes and Riyad Mahrez of Algeria who got 267 votes.
“I’m very happy and proud to win this award. I thank my teammates at the Senegal national team and also my club, Liverpool for their support,” Mane said.
On the Women’s category, Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria was named African Women’s Player of the Year for the 4th time. With the award, she has matched the record of Perpetua Nkwocha.
Oshoala received 351 votes, leading Cameroonian forward Ajara Nchout who polled 321 and Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa who garnered 247 votes.
