Unic Press UK: Some women in Aba, Abia State, staged a peaceful protest Tuesday over the dilapidated state of infrastructure in the state, especially bad roads in Aba, Abia State.
Aba, one of the most renowned commercial city in the southeastern part of Nigeria, is said to be one of the cities with very poor roads/road network despite a beehive of business activities in the city.
During the protest, a large number of women besieged the streets of Aba, marching with banners/placards on which are inscribed several statements:
“Who cast spell on Aba.”
“The return of Aba women riot (Part 2), 1929 – 2019 (90 years).”
Some of the banners displayed blocked drains, heaps of detritus blocking parts of various roads in the city, and dilapidated roads ridden with potholes, etc.
A spokesperson for the women issued a 90-day ultimatum to the state government to fix the bad roads in Aba and pay workers’ salaries, otherwise the government would face something in the mold of the famed Aba Women riot of 1929, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

This Ikpeazu guy keeps popping up everywhere for the wrong reasons, especially crater-ridden, filthy roads & streets
This guy is a shame to himself and party. pic.twitter.com/XaMZLBoPYM

Women in Aba are protesting the horrible road condition in the city. During elections, they were told that a man from Aba will fix Aba. Aba women hate lies pic.twitter.com/enSEw7lJXs

No doubt work has started on PH road but to say the refuse on that road has been cleared is a lie.
Section of this road has been closed by refuse.
The contractors seems to be slow as they are still on gutter for God knows how long.
