African Union Mourns Zimbabwe’s Former President Robert Mugabe

Unic Press UK: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the Chadian Prime Minister, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has, on behalf of the African Union (AU) expressed sorry over the death Friday of Robert Mugabe, who was formerly a Zimbabwean president.

In a statement last week, Mahamat said:

“It is with immense sadness that the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat learnt of the passing of Zimbabwe’s former president Robert Mugabe.

“On behalf of the entire African Union family, the Chairperson wishes to express his sincere condolences to the late former president Mugabe’s family and the Zimbabwean people.

“The African Union is united in grief as we mourn an iconic liberation fighter and emblematic Pan-Africanist in the struggle for liberation and continental integration.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

A state funeral ceremony for the deceased Robert Mugabe would hold in the National Sports Stadium, Harare, on Saturday, September 14.
