Unic Press UK: Lebanon’s President, Michel Aoun says the airstrike on the country’s territory is a “declaration of war.”
Speaking said during a meeting in Beiteddine with the U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, the Lebanese leader Aoun said:
“What happened resembles a declaration of war that entitles us to resort to our right to defend our sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. The attacks on Dahiyeh and the Qusaya region violate (U.N. Security Council) Resolution 1701, and its stipulations that bind Lebanon should also be binding for Israel. I have repeatedly said before that Lebanon will not fire a single shot from its border unless it is in self-defense,” reports Naharnet, the independent Lebanese digital media Organization.
Aoun added that what happened on Sunday, the 25th August 2019, allows his country to exercise its rights.
Israel said its airstrike on Lebanon are directed at the location of a Palestinian terror group.
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that his administration would attack any country used as a base to plot attacks on Israeli territory.
He said: “We will deepen our roots and strike at our enemies. We will continue to strengthen and develop settlement… Israel will continue to defend its security however that may be necessary. I heard Nasrallah’s remarks. I suggest that Nasrallah relax. He knows very well that the State of Israel knows how to defend itself and how to pay back its enemies.”
I want to tell him and the Lebanese state, which is sheltering this organization that aspires to destroy us, and I also say this to Qassem Soleimani: Be careful with your words and be even more careful with your actions.
