President Buhari Directs The Central Bank To Stop Issuing FOREX To Food Importers

Unic Press UK: The Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday that he directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop issuing Foreign Exchange (FOREX) for food importation, claiming that his administration had recorded a major improvement in agricultural production and food security.

Speaking on Tuesday to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors’, who were in his country home Daura for a lunch in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, President Buhari said:

“Don’t give a cent to anybody to import food into the country. We have achieved food security, and for physical security we are not doing badly,” the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu said in a press release Tuesday.

Buhari told the APC apparatchiks that some states’, including Ogun, Lagos, Kebbi, Jigawa, Ebonyi and Kano, heeded the Federal Government’s policy on agriculture thereby generating high returns.
