Brexit: UK Leaves EU On October 31 – Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Unic Press UK: The United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson told the Taoiseach, Leo Eric Varadkar, that the UK would definitely quit the European Union (EU) on October 31, 2019.

“On Brexit, the Prime Minister made clear that the UK will be leaving the EU on October 31, no matter what. He said that in all scenarios, the Government will be steadfast in its commitment to the Belfast Agreement and will never put physical checks or physical infrastructure on the border. The Prime Minister made clear that the government will approach any negotiations which take place with determination and energy and in a spirit of friendship, and that his clear preference is to leave the EU with a deal, but it must be one that abolishes the backstop,” a statement by the UK Prime Minister’s Office, 10 Downing Street, reads, making a reference to the exchanges between the UK Prime Minister and his Irish counterpart.

The UK prime minister has been unequivocal on his position on the Brexit. In his first speech as UK Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP said:

“… I will take personal responsibility for the change I want to see. Never mind the backstop – the buck stops here. It is of course vital at the same time that we prepare for the remote possibility that Brussels refuses any further to negotiate and we are forced to come out with no deal, not because we want that outcome – of course not,  but because it is only common sense to prepare…”
