[Video] Iran Says It’s Not True That U.S. Shot Down Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Unic Press UK: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran has released video footage – https://youtu.be/HZwdsNZc6hs – recorded by an Iranian drone that had monitored a United States Navy vessel in the Strait of Hormuz – a very narrow strategic waterway for the transit of oil – as the Iranian authorities try to refute a claim by Washington that an Iranian unmanned aerial aircraft was shot down by a U.S. warship, U.S.S. Navy Boxer.

The IRGC said it had “fully and precisely” monitored the U.S.S. Navy Boxer for three hours to determine if the U.S. crew had an unconventional or threatening plan, the Press TV reported.

The U.S. President, Donald Trump had Thursday claimed that a U.S. warship shot down an Iranian drone.

“The Boxer took defense action against the drone which had closed into a very close distance, approximately a thousand yards, ignoring multiple calls to stand down and was threatening the safety of the ship and the ship’s crew. The drone was immediately destroyed. This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels operating in international waters. The United States reserves the right to defend our personnel, facilities and interests, and calls upon all nations to condemn Iran’s attempt to disrupt freedom of navigation and global commerce. I also call on other nations to protect their ships as they go through the Straight of Hormuz and to work with us in the future.”

Last month, IRGC’s shot down a U.S. RQ-4 Global Hawk surveillance drone near the Kouh-e Mobarak region in the central district of the Jask County of Iran’s Hormozgan province. And the U.S. President Donald Trump had to cancel a planned retaliatory military action on Iran at the zero hour.

There’s been intense tensions between the U.S. and Iran over the years, escalating last year, May 8, 2018, when the U.S. government withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal – also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, (JCPOA) – and imposed wide range of sanctions against Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump claims that the JCPOA – Iran nuclear deal – remains a bad deal for the world and the United States, insisting that a new agreement is long overdue.

Washington says it’s open to a negotiation on a fresh deal, but Iran insist that no negotiations would hold as long as the U.S. sanctions are not removed.
