Unic Press UK: Sara Netanyahu, the wife of the Israeli Prime Minister has been found guilty of breach of trust and illegal use of public funds.
In a ruling Sunday, judge Avital Chen of the Jerusalem magistrates’ court convicted Sarah, who had earlier in a plea bargain, confessed that she unlawfully used public funds to purchase meals while there was a chef working full-time at the Prime Minister’s residence. She has been ordered by the court to pay “NIS 55,000 ($15,210) — NIS 10,000 as a fine, and the rest as restitution” the Times of Israel reports.
Given her plea bargain in relation to a lesser charge, the convict Netanyahu escapes liability of a more serious charge of aggravated fraud.
It was in 2018 that Sara Netanyahu and one Ezra Saidoff, a former caretaker at the Prime Minister’s Residence, were charged to court over fraud and breach of trust for spending $100,000 of state funds on meals when they knew that a full-time chef works at the prime minister’s residence.
