Nigeria General Election 2019: PDP Accuse INEC & APC-Led Govt. Of A Plot To Rig For Buhari

Unic Press UK: The leading opposition party in Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) of plotting to rig the Nigeria General Election 2019 that is scheduled to hold today, February 16.

In a report ‘We’ve foiled APC government plot to rig for Buhari – Atiku releases proof’ published in the Daily Post of Nigeria, the PDP accused the electoral body INEC of awarding contracts for the supply of the key election materials to an APC member.

“…  the APC Senatorial candidate for Zone B of Niger State, Mr. Mohammed Musa, has a contract with INEC to supply key voting materials in an election he is participating in. The INEC contract was to ‘upgrade’ the card readers and to print PVC cards. Further investigations have shown that the ‘upgrade’ consisted of pre-programming the card readers to accept fake replica PVCs (copies of genuine PVCs) that the firm printed in Nigeria. Given that that Mr. Musa’s previous company, Act Technologies, had a contract to supply and install PVC card printers in the INEC Headquarters, it does beg the question why Mr Musa’s new company, Activate Technologies, was given a subsequent contract to print PVC cards itself?”

Through the spokesperson for the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Segun Showunmi, who was interviewed by France 24 television network, the PDP further expressed concerns over the conduct of the APC apparatchiks.

If you watch the body language of the those that are supposed to be in-charge of the country now, they have departed completely from the way the previous administration of Goodluck Jonathan who said that his victory is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. Now what you hear is that people will be taken out in body bags…, he said.

In a tweet Friday, Atiku Abubakar said: “No one deserves to die over an election. Whichever way it goes, we are bound by a common heritage. I urge for calm & respect for all persuasions. It is my hope security be stepped up in hotspot areas. May the souls of the scores of lives lost in the Kaduna crisis rest in peace.”

Nigeria General Election 2019 would hold on Saturday, the 16th February 2019, from 08:00 AM (Lagos time), save a last-minute cancellation by the electoral commission.
