Buhari: APC Rally In Ogun State Ends In Chaos, Jeers & Pelting With Cudgels

Unic Press UK: There was pandemonium Monday in Ogun State of Nigeria during the All Progressives Congress (APC) political rally as the crowd appeared to vehemently oppose the party’s governorship candidate Dapo Abiodun as soon as Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari welcomed him by raising his [Abiodun] left hand as is usually done during an event of this kind.

Cudgels of different sorts were hurled on the APC leaders on the podium, forcing the security aides to stand directly in front of President Buhari to shield him against dangerous objects.

It took the intervention of the security operatives who shielded the president and ensured he was not hurt by the missiles.

The incident, which was captured on video, occurred at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, toward the end of the speech delivered by President Buhari, even as the Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun repeatedly pleaded with the people to show respect.

“I beg you in the name of God. Please our father is here. Please don’t disgrace me here. I beg you in the name of God…,” Amosun screamed using the microphone, but he was ignored by the mob.

The APC apparatchiks at the rally during the unfortunate incident included the former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu, the former Osun State governor Bisi Akande, the former Ogun State governor Olusegun Osoba, the Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the APC Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, the Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, the former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Nigeria General Election 2019 would hold on Saturday, the 16th February 2019, starting at 08:00 am (Lagos time).
