Brexit: House Of Commons Rejects UK Prime Minister’s Proposal

Unic Press UK: By a wide margin of 230 votes, the House of Commons on Tuesday voted down the Brexit deal of the Prime Minister Theresa May-led government.

After the vote, 432 votes to 202, the Prime Minster said: “The house has spoken and the government will listen. It is clear that the house does not support this deal, but tonight’s vote tells us nothing about what it does support.”

Soon after the votes, the European Council president, Donald Tusk in a terse statement on Twitter, asked: “… who will finally have the courage to say what the only positive solution is?”

On June 23, 2016, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union with 51.8% [more than 17.4 million of the total votes].

On March 29, 2017, the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May inked a letter, which triggered Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, thereby formally declaring that the UK would exit the EU.

The UK is on course to exit the EU on 29 March 32019, but until this date, the outlook is still unclear in the light of Tuesday vote.
