NBA President, Paul Usoro To Be Arraigned On December 18 Over Money Laundering

Unic Press UK: A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ruled that the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Paul Usoro, SAN should be properly arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on December 18, 2018 to face a 10-count-charge, which includes money laundering offense committed on May 2016.

Other respondents in the case are the Akwa Ibom state Accountant-General, Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom state Attorney-General.

When the matter came up in court on Monday, the legal counsel to Paul Usoro, Wole Olanikpekun, SAN said that his client has yet to be served with court papers; and that it remains the duty of the prosecutor to serve the defendant.

After hearing the submission of the defense counsel, Wole Olanikpekun and the EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, Judge Muslim Hassan ordered the prosecutor to serve the defendant with the charge and adjourned to case to December 18, 2018 for proper arraignment.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) alleges that Paul Usoro had engaged in money laundering and fraud to the tune of ₦1.4 billion (£3,034,490).
