National Assembly Workers’ Write EFCC, Alleging Funds Diversion By Parliamentary Leadership

Unic Press UK: In a petition to the to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria, dated November 19, 2018, some of the aides for the federal lawmakers are demanding a proper investigation into “criminal diversion of their budgeted legitimate entitlements,” by the leaders of the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives, the Premium Times reported.

In the letter – “Petition on criminal diversion of funds of legislative aides by the clerk and presiding officers of the 8th National Assembly” – to the EFCC, of which copies were delivered to the President Muhammadu Buhari, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Nigerian Police, the Department for State Security and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Offences Commission (ICPC), the petitioners have alleged that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Omolori are diverting the funds appropriated for legislative aides, including but not limited to Duty Tour Allowance (DTA).
