Tinubu Would Support Atiku Because They Have Common Businesses: 2019 Election

Unic Press UK: A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and current member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Abba Gana, said that Bola Tinubu – a notable national leader of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) – would support the PDP flag-bearer Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming 2019 Presidential Election in Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview with The Sun Newspapers, Nigeria, Gana said:

“I am sure that Tinubu may realise that he faces less danger with Atiku as president. They have common businesses and I am sure they would work together. Tinubu has more things in common with Atiku than Buhari. So at worst, in the South West, President Buhari and Atiku would split the votes. . . I would give Atiku 60 to 65 per cent of the votes in the South West.”

Gana added that the current situation indicates a resounding win for Atiku in almost all of the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria; and the PDP would win in the South West as the Afenifere (Pan Yoruba Cultural Group) and eminent sons’ of the zone have endorsed Atiku. He also said that Atiku abhors tribalism and is currently married to a lady from Oyo State another from Anambra State, both states’ being in the Southern part of the country.

The North Central is with the PDP; the North West would split between PDP and APC, with the PDP emerging as the winner; the North East region, which is Atiku provenance, is fully prepared to support the PDP as the presidency had eluded them for a very long time unlike the North West which is Buhari zone.

On the issue of voters in the North, Gana said that the masses of North have exited the APC/Buhari train in very large numbers because the economy has worsened. “When Jonathan was in power, fuel price was about ₦85 but now, it is about ₦145,” he added.

On the alleged plot to rig the election, Gana said:

“Jonathan was very democratic; he appointed Prof Jega from Kebbi State as the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without any second thought. Now, Buhari has got Professor Mahmood Yakubu as his INEC chairman and we will see how they are going to do it because he (INEC chairman) is from the North East. So, if Yakubu who is from the North East is going to rig against Atiku from the North East, we will see. And Atiku is not an ordinary man like that as he is a former vice president.”
