Nigerian Army: Force Against Violent Protesters Appropriate Says Trump – BBC News

Unic Press UK: The Nigerian army seems to accept the shootings at violent protesters as an appropriate response to those who throw stones and rocks at its personnel; and have made a reference to a video clip of the United States President Donald Trump, the BBC News reported Friday, citing a spokesman for the Nigerian army.

A few days’ ago, Trump had said: “. . . Anybody throwing stones, rocks like they did to Mexico and the Mexico military and the Mexico police where they badly hurt police and soldiers of Mexico, we would consider that a firearm because there is no much difference when you get hit in the face with a rock. . .” in response to a journalist’s question on migrants throwing stones.

The position of Trump is in contrast to what the U.S. embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, has said.

In a recent report, ‘Nigeria: Security forces must be held accountable for killing of at least 45 peaceful Shi’a protesters’ Amnesty International alleged the use of excessive force by soldiers and police against the supporters of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), thereby causing the death of at least 45 IMN supporters.
