APC Replies INEC: We Have Candidates For 2019 Election In Zamfara State

Unic Press UK: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that, with regard to the forthcoming 2019 General Election in Zamfara State, the APC did not meet the deadline to field candidates’ for the governorship, national assembly and the state assembly elections.

In a letter dated October 9, INEC had said that the APC failed to conduct Zamfara primaries between August 18 and October 7, thereby contravening the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2019 General Election, and violating Section 87 and 31 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

In a swift reply to INEC, via a letter dated October 10, the APC National Working Committee Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said that the names of the party’s candidates’ in relation to Zamfara primaries would reach the electoral body “after exhausting all internal procedures for Appeals arising out of the congresses,” arguing that the APC did not violate the Electoral Act.
