Minister Of Women’s Affairs Resign From Cabinet, Quits APC

Unic Press UK: Aisha Alhassan [popularly known as ‘Maman Taraba’) has resigned her appointment as the Minister of Women’s Affairs and Social Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Alhassan exit from the cabinet happened Saturday, which is barely two weeks’ after the country’s Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun resigned.

In her letter of resignation, Alhassan blamed the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC) for her exit from both the cabinet and the party, saying that despite having a written consent/blessing of President Muhammadu Buhari, she was unduly disqualified from contesting the APC gubernatorial primaries of Taraba state at a time she had invested so much in campaigning in the party’s primary election in Taraba state. “If I am not qualified to contest election in the APC, I feel I am also not qualified to remain a Minister in an APC government,” she wrote.

Aisha Alhassan, who also announced that she has quit the All Progressives Congress (APC), wrote on Twitter: “Today, the 29th of September 2018, I wish to transmit to the President my decision to resign as the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and withdraw my membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC). I have officially JOINED my next POLITICAL PARTY with 7 state Assembly Members, all @APCNigeria executives from 169 wards of Taraba State. All 16 local Government exco’s of APC All states executives of APC, we are now in UDP.
