Nigeria Lawmakers’ Reject INEC’s ₦189B Request, Approve ₦143B

Unic Press UK: A joint session of the Nigeria Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters have approved the sum of One Hundred and Forty Three Billion (₦143B) as proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari, thereby rejecting the sum of ₦189B, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is requesting for election purpose.

In a statement Monday, the chair of the joint committee Senator Suleiman Nazif (APC Bauchi North) said: The Joint Committee sat and deliberated the position to adopt the ₦143B as presented by Mr. President. INEC is expected to represent the ₦143B as requested by Mr. President. INEC has an opportunity to re-prioritize and appear before the Committee tomorrow by 1 PM.

The joint committee of Nigeria Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters adjourned until Tuesday, the 28th August, 2018.

Nigeria 2019 General Elections will hold on Saturday, the 16th February 2019.
