Unic Press UK: Eze Madumere has ceased to be the Imo state deputy governor as he was impeached Monday by 19 of the 37 members of the Imo state House of Assembly.
Madumere was impeached, despite a subsisting court injunction that action on the -report by a 7-man panel that indicted him for gross conduct be put hold pending the determination of a case before the High Court.
Following the impeachment, the embattled politician has filed another suit praying the court to “determine whether the Chief Judge can legally constitute a panel of seven persons of unquestionable integrity, to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct made against the plaintiff by the Speaker and the State House of Assembly, during the pendency of suit number HOW/531/201 instituted by the plaintiff against the Chief Judge, the Speaker and Imo State House of Assembly, in respect of the invalidity of the Assembly’s motion and the Speaker’s request to the Chief Judge to constitute the said panel,” Unini Chioma reports on the website of the Nigeria Lawyer.
