Dangote Cement plc To Pay ₦157.5 Million For Driver’s Recklessness – High Court

Unic Press UK: Judge M N O Okonkwo of the High Court of Justice, Onitsha, Anambra State has ordered Dangote Cement plc to pay ₦157.5 million to the plaintiffs – Ekeson Salins Oil & Gas Ltd, Idoko Earnest Ekene, Udeme John and Ayuba Sadiq – in a case before the court.

The case is in respect of reckless, negligent and dangerous driving by a driver to Dangote Cement plc, causing human death and the destruction of a vehicle belonging to one of the plaintiffs, said The Nigeria Lawyer in its report Friday.

The presiding judge had considered, among other things, the fact that there is a written and duly executed Agreement “Term of Settlement Agreement” between the parties in the case, yet the Dangote Cement plc reneged on the agreement, reports The Nigeria Lawyer on its website.

Dangote Cement plc is a major producer of cement in Africa, with production facilities in ten African countries.
