Unic Press UK: It is estimated that, in the past few days’, about a hundred people have been killed in communities in Plateau state of Nigeria by nomadic herdsmen of the Fulani tribe, and the killings have yet to be stopped by the Nigerian security agencies.
In a report yesterday, the Voice of Nigeria said eighty-six persons have been killed during attacks on “Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area”, citing the Plateau State Police Command. Other reports, including those of Nigerian-based Punch Newspaper and Vanguard Newspaper, indicate that the figure is in excess of a hundred.
In his reaction, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, called on the security agencies to work towards ensuring that the criminals killing innocents are captured.
Our security agencies must immediately get to work to ensure that the culprits responsible for this weekend’s killings in Plateau State must be brought to book. The safety of the lives and property of all Nigerians must remain the primary duty of this government.

Today again, suspected herdsmen killed over 200 Nigerians in Plateau State.
I am not aware of any Anti Grazing Law in Plateau State. So can the FG that claimed that anti grazing law made by some States caused the killings by herdsmen tell Nigerians what happened?— Peter Ayodele Fayose (@GovAyoFayose) June 24, 2018

Reacting on Twitter to the flurry of rebuke against his administration’s mundane response to the incessant killings in Plateau, President Buhari said: “The grievous loss of lives & property arising from the killings in Plateau today is painful and regrettable. My deepest condolences to the affected communities. We will not rest until all murderers and criminal elements and their sponsors are incapacitated and brought to justice.”
A curfew, from 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs has been declared, the Plateau State Commissioner of Information Yakubu Dati said.
