Unic Press UK: The former governor of Plateau State and current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Joshua Dariye, has been convicted by a Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for misappropriation of public funds and criminal breach of trust.

Dariye, convicted in 15 of 23 charges, has been sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison. 14 years for criminal breach of trust and 2 years for misappropriation of public funds, but the sentence will run concurrently, which means that he will spend 14 years in prison.
After the judgment which was delivered by Judge Adebukola Banjoko, armed security men whisked the convict away to commence his term in prison.
Last month, Judge Banjoko also convicted a former governor, Jolly Nyame, who governed Benue State, and sentenced him to a total of 28 years jail term – 14 years for breach of public trust, 2 years for misappropriation of public monies, 5 years for obtaining money by illegitimate means, and 7 years for gratification. The conviction is to run concurrently. And Nyame will spend only fourteen years in prison.
