Eid Al-Fitr 2018: 15th & 18th June Declared Public Holidays In Nigeria

Unic Press UK: Friday, the 15th June and Monday, the 18th June 2018 will be public holidays in Nigeria, the country’s Minister of Interior, Abdulrahaman Bello Dambazau, announced in a Press Statement today in Abuja.

On behalf of the Nigerian government, Dambazau expressed delight at the successful end of the Ramadan fast; calling for peace, prayer and unity in the country.

“The first Eid was celebrated in 624 CE by the Prophet Muhammad with his friends and relatives after the victory of the battle of Jang-e-Badar. Muslims are not only celebrating the end of fasting, but thanking Allah for the help and strength that he gave them throughout the previous month to help them practise self-control,” according to the BBC.
