PDP Flays APC Over Widespread Violence In Ward Congresses

Unic Press UK: The Peoples’ Democratic Party of Nigeria (PDP) has criticized the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) over widespread violence during the party’s ward congresses Saturday.

In a pres statement ‘APC Ward Congress: PDP Condemns Violence, Sues For Peaceful Electioneering’ today, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan said:

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in totality, the violence and bloodletting that characterized the last Saturday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in various parts of the country… We urge all stakeholders, including political parties, contenders to offices and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to respect the will of the people by playing by the rules and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere”

Ekiti state: Due to violent disruption of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries in the state, the organizing committee suspended the exercise indefinitely.

Rivers state: Senator Magnus Abe (APC – Rivers South East) claims that there was no ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in all the 23 local government areas, the Channels TV news reported.

Delta state: A member of the APC was killed.

Imo state: The chairman of the organizing committee told journalists that he had no materials to execute the ward congresses.

Other states where the exercise was marred by violence included Oyo, Abia, Ebonyi, Adamawa, Ondo.

The exercise was peaceful in Lagos, Katsina, Edo, Niger, Enugu
