Unic Press UK: The former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, would not reclaim the $9,772,000 and £74,000 which were recovered in a fortified safe in Kaduna, the Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal has ruled, thereby concurring with the judgement delivered in February 2018 by Federal High Court.
Judge Daniel Kalio, leading two other judges of the Court of Appeal, upheld the submission of the EFCC.
It was on 3 February 2018 that a team of operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), acting on a tip-off, recovered the sums in a building in Kaduna.
Yakubu, who claims ownership of the monies, approached the Federal High Court, seeking a ruling that the monies be returned to him; and appealed the case after he lost at the Federal High Court.
